Planning Blog: Title Design

Image
Our group took our time when deciding on our title. We realized that because this film is so important, the name must be just as amazing. After lots of consideration and ideas, we finally came to a mutual agreement. First, I thought we should name it "Cristiano", referencing the famous Portuguese footballer. However, my groupmates instantly shot this down. This is because they believed that it would make the story too unoriginal. That is why we did not go with the title, "Cristiano". After this, another suggestion was made. Sam believed that, "The Shot" was a good name. Instantly, we agreed against this. This name felt horrid to each of us. It felt generic, boring and overall, horrible. We then moved on. After these two below average contributions, we all focused and tried to think of the perfect title for our film. Many ideas came about but we stayed focused for the perfect one. That's when Jason decided to speak up. After being mostly quiet for almo...

Planning Blog: Location, Participants, Health, and Schedule

Image
For our opening scene we will need a large amount of participants as our film is based off a soccer match. Soccer games usually include 11 players per team. We will need a lot of people in order to film the certain shots we plan on filming. We have decided that we will gather all these participants by asking all our friends if they would like to help us film a school project. We figured out that our filming location will be Holiday Park in Fort Lauderdale. We chose this because it is free and open to the public. Without any entrance fees this makes it more likely for us to get help where help is needed. Another reason we want to film at Holiday Park is because of its open to the public hours. Holiday Park is open from 5AM all the way to 11PM. This is very crucial as it gives us as much time as we need to film. However we have to make sure that the day we film will be sunny and bright outside. To make sure everyone is safe during filming we will make sure to bring lots of food, sna...

First the players all stand in the locker room before entering the field. As they step foot you can tell each individual is nervous for this game. They are rivals and this would settle the debate of who is better. The game starts off with the team Flamengo starting with ball. They make there passes at the back to lift up the forwards and open the field. Number 10 who is the main star on Flamengo gets the balls. He dribbles through the midfield to make his way up to the other side. As he looks up for option he see's no opening plays. He thinks to himself as to what he should do and then just shoots the ball. The goalie from the other side proceeds to jump and block the goal, You could see the desperation in everyone to win this game. The shouting the screams, everything. The opposite team gets the ball is immediately presses the defense against flamengo. This leaves them vulnerable because they high pressed leaving a huge gap. Luckily Flamengo defense doesn't give up and gets b...

Title research: Watch the titles websites

Image
For our second website we researched "Watch the titles Websites" which is a website made for title designs. When making titles you want to have the opening title scene convey to the movie for example if a movie is more about Romantic and Comedy then the title designs would match the flow of that following the same theme. In title sequences they use certain transitions so that viewers who are watching the movie get a good impression and coordination of the movie. Having a good sequence is important it gives the viewers a representation of what the movie going to be about. For example is a movie starts off with explosions we could assume it would be about action and more. The opening sequence would focus the viewers attention on the animation where they place title cards. They add music that plays a role with the movie so it can have the audience grasp for more of what the movie is going to be. When making a title sequence capitalized letters emphasize and gives it a more dram...

Title Research: art of the title website

Image
For our first website we researched art of the title which is a website that is dedicated to title sequence design. When creating a title, you want to follow the theme and vibe of the movie. If the movie is animated and in a comic format, you would make the title with the same format or following the same theme. For the title sequence creating a scene that will follow into the sequence is ideal to allow smooth translations in the movie. This sequence should also follow with the current scene. For example, for a mechanical movie the scene and could focus on a clock which it would then go into the mechanical gears of the clock and the sequence would then lead to a title card in a mechanical font or form blending with the sequence. Having good flow with the sequence is ideal because it is your first impression of the movie to the viewer. Another example is for a horror genre. If the movie would have a bloody opening scene, the sequence could have red font appearing from or representing th...

Movie Conventions Research: Predators

Image
For the last movie of the night we decided to watch predators. We decided on this movie as we are all fans of the previous movies. We also felt as big fans of the franchise that we would be able to pay attention more to the thriller tactics used for this movie. This movie will help our thriller genre. With such suspense and amusement this movie is a perfect movie for our genre. As this movie is also enjoyable to watch. We all really liked how this movie had both suspense and no wasted scenes. There were no scenes that were pointless to the storyline therefore making it very amusing to watch. There was also a lot of suspense throughout the entire movie that made it very interesting and engaging when watching the movie. However one thing we did not like about this movie was how some of the suspenseful scenes ended. Certain suspenseful scenes would not end with the excitement that was built up for it. With such build up and poor execution it made those certain scenes silly to watch. ...

Movie Conventions Research: Frozen

Image
For our second movie we all decided on watching frozen. However this is not the typical Disney Frozen. The Frozen is based off three adults getting trapped on a ski lift. The resort than closes for the night and they are trapped there for the night. We decided on this movie because of the suspense it created as the three adults were trapped on the lift. There were a lot of emotions running around throughout the entire movie making suspenseful all the way throughout. There was always a circumstance that made their problem worse. We really liked how this movie made sure the audience was engaged all the way through. There were very few parts that weren’t engaging as the majority of the movie was. However there were a couple of things we didn’t enjoy about the movie. There were parts in the movie that graphics such as the makeup and cgi were bad. Made the movie feel less entertaining as to see something gruesome that didn’t look real. This made the movie a little more comfortable too ...

Movie Conventions Research: I am Legend

Image
One of the thriller movies we decided to watch was “I am Legend”. We decided to watch this one as it is interesting and can help us brainstorm ideas for an opening scene. We recently decided that our opening scene genre would be thriller. The elements of suspension and engagement that this movie brings will be a great way for us to brainstorm ideas for our own opening scene. We all really liked how the movie was very suspenseful and off putting. We never knew what to expect next with each scene. The element of surprise was a big takeaway for us in this movie. However we did not like the way the movie would be a little off putting. There were a lot of scenes to just fluff up the movie and add minutes to it. When watching a movie having the audience engaged 80% of the time is a major key point. I find it very important to make sure the audience is constantly engaged with the movie at all times. For this reason we found that a bit off putting for the movie. We felt as if certain scen...

'Pitch Blog- Best Idea Ever

Image
First Pitch: A young couple is walking through a park when mysteriously a tattered suitcase falls from one of the many trees. What’s inside changes their lives! Second Pitch: Most football fans understand the importance of the final seconds of a game, but few know the same pressure that Cristiano felt during this match. First Pitch Discussion: We would not be able to film this pitch due to the props and shots needed. We do not have a suitcase and if we do decide to purchase one we would not be able to tatter it up because of the money spent towards it. The shots needed for this pitch would not make a good opening scene. There is just not enough content available to be shown for each role. We would need a deeper and more inclined opening scene than a casual walk in the park. Overall we would not be able to film this pitch due to us being unable to gather the proper materials and shots for the opening scene. Second Pitch Discussion: We will be able to film this pitch for a multitude...
